There is still a large group of specialties available such as the hanging tillandsia Usneoide, Nidularium, Billbergia and Cryptyantus and Multiflora. Quirky bromelias occur regularly in the tropics but are generally less grown as ornamental plants. The Multiflora is an exception. This is a special Vriesea with many drop-shaped flowers in shades of red and yellow-orange. The leaves are narrow and compact making a lovely bouquet among the bromelias and they therefore deserves extra attention under the specialties.
Are you interested in specialties? Make it known to your florist or garden center. The plants are often available, but are generally not often offered to consumers. It will be super fun when you show your broad knowledge on the Bromelias to the specialist.
Place Bromelia in a well-lit area in the house away from direct afternoon sun. Give these plants water in the chalice which is the heart of the plant. From this heart, the plant feeds itself. Once the water is no longer visible, the plant must be watered again. On warm days, you can always refresh a bromelia with water from a spray bottle, like a tropical shower.
This plant only needs some water in its heart & it blooms for 3 months.
